Nestled in the heart of Harajuku, just a stone’s throw from the bustling Takeshita Street, the Pompompurin Cafe offers a delightful Japanese experience for fans of the adorable Sanrio character, Pompompurin. This themed cafe is a dream come true for anyone with a soft spot for custard pudding (known as “purin” in Japanese), as it showcases a variety of dishes inspired by the golden retriever who wears a brown beret. Menu
The menu at the Pompompurin Cafe’s Harajuku location is as cute as it is delicious, offering everything from custard pudding to caramel pudding, parfaits, and even savory dishes like omelette rice adorned with a mini Pompompurin model. Each dish is meticulously crafted to look like Pompompurin himself, complete with his signature pom pom and beret.
Beware the one drink system
One drink per person must be ordered. Visitors can also indulge in dessert drinks like latte or cafe mocha featuring cute Pompompurin latte art. The cute drinks are expensive and also very sweet so if you don’t care about the visuals it’s better to stick to regular coffee, tea, soft drinks or juice.
Reservations?
Unfortunately, they don’t take reservations. But they distribute numbered tickets so you don’t have to waste time lining up. When your number comes up they will notify you by email or LINE messaging.
Arrived 15 minutes before the store opening on a weekday. 3 groups had already arrived before us but there was nobody at the entrance. They all came early, got the numbered tickets and went somewhere to spend time effectively.
Access
Right near JR Harajuku station Takeshita exit. Also near Tokyo Metro Meiji Jingumae station. The store is in the middle of Takeshita Dori, on the 3rd floor of a building so be careful not to pass by it. It’s across from Mameshiba Cafe.
