Famous Korean Restaurant has arrived in Japan!
Chukumi, meaning “little octopus” in Korean, is a Korean dish which takes its name from the little octopus. It is cooked by stir frying onions, garlic chives and octopus with a sauce made from a mixture of soy sauce, starchy syrup, mirin (alcohol with sugar), gochujang (red pepper paste) and red pepper powder. It’s a popular food in Korea and hugely popular among the young Japanese too.
Should I make a reservation?
We went on a weekday with an online reservation. There are three Chukumi Dosa stores so be careful. We were surprised to find the restaurant already full at 11:00. It’s definitely recommended to make a reservation online before you go!
Menu
There was no English menu but the menu basically consists of only Chukumi dishes so it’s simple. You can order a simple Chukumi set or a Chukumi set with tripes or pork. After ordering, the waiter will skillfully cook your meal for you.
Eat the grilled Chukumi wrapped in lettuce or perilla or dip it in mayonnaise – according to taste. You can have as much lettuce and perilla as you want.
After finishing Chukumi, definitely order the fish roe fried rice. Don’t forget the cheese topping!
