Of course, you’ll have to try sushi when you come to Japan. I’d like to introduce a good sushi place where they serve an authentic sushi course. And the good thing is you can go with young children in tow. The main store of Sushi MATSUE is in Ebisu and they also have a branch in Shibuya near the Shibuya Scramble Square intersection.

Reservations can be made online in English. Some of the sushi chefs here can speak English so you don’t have to worry even if you don’t speak Japanese.

Helpful point ① Private rooms

When dining with young children you might gravitate towards a kaiten sushi (conveyor belt) or casual sushi chain restaurant. But you might also want a more authentic sushi restaurant experience where you can watch the sushi chefs actually make the sushi behind the counter. Then try Sushi MATSUE! They have counter seats as well as private rooms so there’s no problem even with young children and infants. No extra fee for private rooms but advance reservations necessary.

There is no official children’s menu but you can order any sushi you like a la carte. Appreciated their kindness in cutting the sushi in half to fit a child’s mouth.

The main store is classic looking. This is the store with tatami mat private rooms which are perfect for infants. A little walking distance from Ebisu station and might be difficult to find.

Roppongi store

This store only has counters, no private rooms. Other branch stores are recommended if going with young children.
