Newly opened Ritz-Carlton – 2023
The Ritz-Carlton Fukuoka newly opened in 2023. Previously, the only luxury hotel in Fukuoka was the Grand Hyatt Fukuoka so we were eagerly looking forward to the opening of this Ritz-Carlton. Fukuoka had announced its candidacy to host the 2019 G20 Summit but ended up being unsuccessful in its bid because Fukuoka did not have enough suitable 5-star hotels to accommodate dignitaries of various countries. So the opening of the Ritz-Carlton was eagerly awaited.
Location?
Located inside a new commercial facility called Daimyo Garden City
The hotel is in a section of the Daimyo area which has been attracting attention lately, located just a 5-minute walk from Tenjin station in bustling Hakata, the center of Fukuoka.
It’s convenient to drop by department stores and big electronics stores in the Tenjin station vicinity. It’s also within walking distance to the stretch of street where famous food stalls are.
Guest rooms
The guest room is modern Japanese style – similar in atmosphere to the Ritz-Carlton Nikko
There are no tall buildings nearby so you can enjoy a panoramic view. The good point about the Ritz-Carlton Fukuoka is that it is free for children (sharing bed) under 11 years old.
Facilities/Activities
There is an indoor pool in the fitness club area where children can use for an extra charge. We didn’t have enough time to use it this time around. We did use the training machines. Nice atmosphere – cold bottled water and dried fruits provided.
Children can participate in the free Ritz Kids activities such as making crafts and stamp rallies, suitable for pre-school children.
Breakfast
For ¥6,500 per person you can choose a set menu buffet.
You can order egg dishes. We ordered the omelette with the Fukuoka specialty, ““mentaiko” (spicy cod roe) sauce.
The sumptuous and delicious buffet – Japanese food, pastries, fruits. Home-made yogurt. mango pudding and cold appetizers were in the refrigerator.
Children can eat free with Marriott Bonvoy membership benefit.
Access
It is more convenient to go from Akasaka station than from Tenjin station
